“Chicago Made” music, tech talent shows off at SXSW

Chicago Made” music riches and tech innovations will be on display a second year before the thousands of international visitors at SXSW Music, Film, Interactive festivals March 15-18 in Austin, Texas.

 

Choose Chicago, the city’s official tourism organization, will have a specially designed Trade Show Booth at the Austin Convention Center to show off the city’s cultural best.   

 

Happy Hours, March 15, 4-6 p.m., hosted by Daniel X. O’Neil, Smart Chicago Collaborator Director; Terry Howerton, TechNexus partner and Chaz Ebert, RogerEbert.com and Ebert Digital.  Sponsors: Goose Island and Skinny Pop.

 

March 16, hosted by Jimmy Chamberlin, The Smashing Pumpkins drummer and LiveOne CEO; Ben Hewitt and Time Welch, founds, Nusiki.  Sponsors, Goose Island and Eli’s Cheesecake.

 

March 17, hosted by Nan Warshaw, owner, Bloodshot Records, Eric Sheinkop CEO, Music Dealers and Martin Atkins, former Ministry drummer, author and SAE teacher.

Two premiering documentaries, Chicago-made “For Grace” and “Mavis!” about Chicago-born gospel and soul singer Mavis Staples, will screen under the “Maker Stories” banner.
