MICHAEL MOORE AND MICHAEL SHANNON light up our celeb scene over the next few weeks while they’re in Chicago. Tonight, Moore will  present the 25th anniversary screening of his first doc, “Roger & Me,” at the 50th Chicago International Film Festival, at the AMC River East theatre at 7 p.m.

Then on Friday, he will be the luncheon keynote speaker at John Marshall Law School’s annual IP law symposium, where he will talk about his experience as a filmmaker, journalist and writer and how IP law has played a part in his career.

Versatile stage and screen actor Michael Shannon returns to his Chicago roots Nov. 8 when he hosts a gala for the 22nd anniversary for A Red Orchid Theatre which he cofounded, at Sunda. His co-host is restaurateur Billy Dec (Sunda and Rockit) 

The gala features live performances from the company’s upcoming season, followed by a benefit cocktail party at The Underground, with a live auction and a Spectacular A Red Orchid Fan Package.

Factoid: Shannon has appeared in 49 movies since 1993 — “Groundhog Day” was his first — and eight TV series, with HBO’s just-ending HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” the latest.

MAGNANIMOUS MEDIA’S Gear Junkie contest will award a $3,000 rental credit on camera, lighting, and audio gear.  Contestants submit a link to their web site, the favorite project they’ve worked on and why, and a paragraph about what they’d do with the credit (or a script).  Entry deadline is Oct. 31.  The winner will be announced Nov. 15.

AFTER 16 YEARS at Arc Worldwide, award-winning SVP/CD Matt Denten on Monday joined total brand experience Momentum Worldwide as SVP/Midwest ECD. He will lead the agency’s Chicago and St. Louis teams in creating marketing solutions for Momentum clients that include the US army, United Airlines, Energy Upgrade California and Constellation Wines.

BTW: Momentum’s YouTube video for Budweiser, called “Friends are Waiting(the friend is the man’s faithful dog) lovable man’s dog) has garnered almost an astounding 20 MILLION VIEWS since it was posted Sept. 19.
