EVP/GCD Banta heads Capital One creative team

David Banta

DDB Chicago’s new EVP/group creative director, David Banta, moves to the Windy City from Boston to head all creative work on the agency’s estimated $265 million Capital One account, now in its 10th year with the agency.

“I’m delighted to work at an agency with such a creative legacy, and Capital One has been doing some of the most visible work on the planet,” Banta said of his new position, noting that “The team in place at DDB is very strong.”

Banta, who has earned multi advertising awards, previously was an ECD for years at Hill Holliday, Boston, where he led creative on Liberty Mutual Insurance, Merrell footwear, Cadillac and Capella University.

Prior to Hill Holliday, Banta spent two years as an ACD at CP+B and two years as a creative director at Doner in addition to stints with Mintz & Hoke, Foote, Cone & Belding, and others.

He reports to CCO John Maxham, who called Banta “exactly the kind of gutsy creative” needed to channel Capital One’s “challenger brand” spirit.
