Wicker Park’s Heaven Gallery ? the people responsible for the upcoming Z Film Festival ? is planning monthly screenings and seeks film/video submissions.
The Jan. 10-11 4th Annual Z Festival offers 14 short films, followed by musical guests both nights. As the Tribune’s John Petrakis said of the last Z Fest, “This is not a festival for the squeamish or artistically inflexible.”
The festival is run by husband-wife team Kristie and Usama Alshaibi, who have been programming various visual screenings since 1997. Collectively, the couple has produced 40-plus shorts and three features. Their work has been screened in festivals throughout the world.
