New holiday spots that are funny as #&%!

Groupon has something for everyone

Groupon has something for everyone

Two new indecently hilarious spots hit the marketplace this week.

The first is from O’Keefe Reinhard & Paul, an agency doing the kind of work that made me want to get into advertising when I was a young lad. Created for Groupon and called, “Oh S#&%, I didn’t get a present for everybody,” the campaign pokes fun at a situation we have all been in — forgetting to get a gift.

Beginning with a woman who has forgotten, the spot goes through several funny vignettes where Groupon positions itself as the only holiday shopping destination that offers instant, last-minute gifting options.

The ads remind shoppers that Groupon has experiences for everyone and, with instant gifting, they can finish up their shopping and go back to a restful night’s sleep.

According to the National Retail Federation, only one in ten Americans complete their holiday shopping by mid-December. Indecisiveness over what to buy ranks as the number one cause of delay.

“This campaign celebrates what sets us apart from all other holiday shopping destinations,” says Jon Wild, Groupon’s Vice President of North America marketing. “We have the distinctive ability to be the ideal last-minute gifting source with our wide variety of activities, restaurants, beauty services and more.”

The last-minute gifting campaign continues Groupon’s use of celebratory musical storytelling with lyrics set to up-tempo polka tunes. Running on television, online video and radio through Christmas, the ads are an extension of Groupon’s broader holiday campaign that launched in early November.

“We have built a unique voice for the Groupon brand that is instantly recognizable,” explains Matt Reinhard, Chief Creative Officer at OKRP. “We saw an opportunity to leverage our musical storytelling to promote Groupon’s deep local offerings.”

Pornhub gets “lit AF” for Hanukkah

Wow, here’s a combination I never saw coming — Pornhub and Hanukkah. But there it is. From Madrid-based Officer & Gentleman comes a spot that I simply have to share.

Pornhub, the adult-entertainment company is apparently promoting free access to their Premium channel, its so-called “Netflix for porn,” and it chose the first night of Hanukkah to kick off the freebie.

The deal lasts for all “eight crazy nights,” until December 20.
