Indie film “A Light Beneath Their Feet,” from LA-based PhD Productions, starring Taryn Manning (“Orange is the New Black”) will start shooting in Evanston the end of March.
Co-starring is Madison Davenport, who appears in director Darren Aronofsky’s $150 million epic “Noah,” in release March 28.
The low-budget coming-of-age dramedy is about a high school senior (Davenport) who must choose between attending the college of her dreams and staying home to take care of her bipolar mother (Manning). Screenplay by Moira McMahon Leeper.
Director is Valerie Weiss, founder of PhD Productions – she received her PhD from Harvard medical school — an award winning writer/director who founded Harvard’s Dudley Film Program and serves as its Filmmaker-in-Residence. This is her indie third film.
Executive producer is Jeffrey Loeb, line producer Carrie Holt de Lama, both Chicago and producer Rob Johnson of LA.
