Northwestern Healthcare names Modesto marketing head

NORTHWESTERN MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE hired a new marketing officer: veteran Chicago adman Mark Modesto, who joined from his role as CEO of Ryan Partnership. He will oversee marketing relations for the hospital’s network of seven affiliated Chicago area hospitals.

“With Mark’s considerable experience,” said President / CEO Dean Harrison, “he will be able to elevate the Northwestern medical brand experience for the patients and communities we are privileged to serve.”

Modesto had been with Foote Cone & Belding for three decades as president and later president of North America for FCB. He led the agency’s long-time S.C. Johnson business before the account moved to Energy BBDO and Ogilvy in 2010.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital ranked 8th Best and #1 hospital regionally in Illinois and the Chicago metro area by US News and World Report’s 2016-2017 Best Hospitals Honor Roll.

BILL CIMINO, who spent 20 years at DDB Chicago leading the Anheuser Busch and McDonald’s accounts, has joined McCann Detroit as chief creative officer. He shares the top creative duties with Jeff Cruz who joined from VSA as creative lead earlier this year.

Cimino previously was with Y&R Chicago for three years, leaving last January and working as a creative consultant and freelancer.

NEW AT THE ESCAPE POD Escape Pod is Heather Hayden director of talent, responsible for recruiting and retaining top talent, who joined from senior creative recruiter at Havas Worldwide Chicago.

An industry veteran, with extensive experience on both agency and production sides, Hayden has held account management positions at Element 79, FCB Chicago, J. Walter Thompson Worldwide and Flair Communications. She also was the Midwest rep for MK Films, Chicago, LA-based Hum Music and New York-based The Wilderness post house.

Hayden’s arrival at The Escape Pod follows the recent appointment of Brand Director Celia Jones, who was hired from Group Brand Director, Havas Worldwide.

MUSICIANS AND BANDS – DCASE is accepting applications now through Sept. 9 from Chicago-area artists of all genres to audition live for a panel of major label Artists & Repertoire executives on Oct. 22.

The panel of A&R executives consists of Laurel Kittleson, A&R manager, Big Machine Label Group; Tuo Clark, A&R Def Jam/Universal Records and Jackie Winkler, A&R Island Records.
