Two Chicago connections to Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hit

David Dastmalchian

ACTOR DAVID DASTMALCHIAN, an ensemble member of the Shattered Globe Company and Caffeine Theatre, is in Marvel Studio’s $132 million blockbuster “Ant-Man,” playing Kurt, one of Ant-Man’s cohorts.

The movie stars Paul Rudd in the title role, Michael Douglas, Judy Greer, John Slattery and Bobby Cannavale and many more.

Dastmalchian, who studied drama at The Theatre School at DePaul, last year produced his first indie feature, “Animals,” now available on VOD.  He stars in the 2016 action/thriller, “The Belko Experiment,” along with fellow Chicagoans Michael Rooker, Tony Goldwyn and Rusty Schwimmer in the cast.

“ANT-MAN’S” MAIN-ON-END TITLES were created by Sarofsky, the West Loop design-driven firm of Erin Sarofsky that also created titles for “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Captain America” The Winter Soldier.”

The company can’t reveal the actual wok until the film’s Blu-Ray release later this year, although Sarofsky did say, “Conceptually, these main-on-end titles are intricately connected to the film’s overall narrative … in what we consider to be our very best work.”
