Craig Lewandowski joins Utopic as editor/partner

Craig Lewandowski

Editor Craig Lewandowski last week joined Utopic creative editing and finishing as a partner, after 13 years at Optimus.  He is one of five editors — alongside founders Jan Maitland and Tim Kloehn and Katherine Pryor and Suzi Moore — and the newest addition to the company’s 21 person staff.

The move was an easy transition, Lewandowski says, “as I’ve know and worked with Jan and Tim for years. Coming over here was the opportunity I was looking for, to have a bigger role in a smaller company.  It’s a great company and it will continue to grow.”

Lewandowski is best known for high-end spots such as Illinois Tourism and Illinois Lottery, Michelob Ultra, US Bank and Comcast, although he has edited music videos and an award-winning feature, “Adventures in the Sin Bin.”

He has won two AICE “Best of Chicago” spots and along with Craig Duncan, Tom Duff and Mary Caddy serve as a member of the AICE international board.

Coming up on its fifth anniversary Dec. 1, Utopic is still expanding, says Maitland, and plans to add another editor and enlarge the audio department and its space.

The company currently occupies 9,500 sq. ft., or three-quarters of the sixth floor at 420 N. Wabash.
