World’s first H.265 mobile encoder demos at JBTV 12/3

A live demonstration of the world’s first H.265 hardware mobile encoder “Smart-Telecaster,” the Soliton ZAO encoder system — a live broadcasting link that delivers high quality, one-way video and two-way audio transmissions — takes place at JBTV Studios, Thursday, Dec. 3, noon to 7 p.m.

The Smart-Telecaster will be presented by Brian Falatovich of Midwest Digital Corp., the exclusive Soliton ZAO distributor in the Midwest, and Aki, international sales manager of Soliton’s Tokyo-based manufacturing operations.

“ZAO is ideally designed for professional AV engineers on live sports, mobile streaming, documentary and journalism applications,” says Falatovich.

“The latest H.265/HEVC video compression standard provides a live broadcasting link anywhere there’s a connection, even in areas where there’s barely a signal.”

The encoder size is a convenient 8x6x2-inches that can be attached to any camera. It’s also offered in a backpack solution that’s especially designed for the equipment so AV engineers can get to essential events and locations faster and easier.

The bonded system connects up to six mobile modems for transmission of high quality, real-time video streaming over networks of IP-based transmission such as 3G, 4G / LTE / WiFi and BGAN.

ZAO sells at around $20,000 “but we’re open to discussion about rentals,” Falatovich says.

In business for 20 years and based in Orland Park, Midwest Digital sells 20-plus major brands of new and used AV equipment, including JVC cameras, Atomos monitors and hard drive systems, AKG microphones, Lumantek SDI switchers.

New to the inventory is Vibe X, a vibration-action camera mount. “With any vibration problem, the mount eliminates the jitter,”  Falatovich says.
