Credle, Favat & Cartwright in new AICP short

Credle as artist Frida Kahlo

Add acting to the illustrious resumes of FCB’s Global Chief Creative Officer Susan Credle, Deutsch North American Chief Creative Officer Pete Favat and 72andSunny’s Executive Creative Director Keith Cartwright.

The three appear in director Brian Billow’s (of O Positive) new AICP short film created to generate excitement for this year’s touring awards show. In the mockumentary, Billow claims he has heard that winning an AICP Award, combined with having one’s work archived by the Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) – may altering top creatives in the ad industry.

In this “investigative” film, he uncovers examples of what for years had only been rumored to be the effects of this unique recognition of craft and artistry.

On a recent visit to Deutsch LA, Billow finds Favat hilariously channeling Andy Warhol, even renaming the agency “The Factory” (in a nod to Warhol’s famous art studio in New York). While he leaves Favat wandering Deutsch’s halls inviting the team to a party at Studio 54, Billow visits Cartwright of Saturday Morning fame, now transformed into Jean-Michel Basquiat. Finally, he ends up with Credle, who has found her inner Frida Kahlo – a seemingly normal occurrence – as she voices her concern over Favat’s extreme behavior.

Credle (whom I had the pleasure of knowing at Leo), Favat and Cartwright all have work in the AICP Show and AICP Next awards, and thus in MoMA’s film archive. It’s an amusing approach showing the AICP can poke fun at itself, as we all know how serious (and sometimes desperately ridiculous) creatives can be when it comes to awards.
