Odd Machine’s expanded new facilities and directors

Over the next two-three weeks, Seth Henrickson and Chris Shegich’s Odd Machine will be transitioning its post operation into a new, separate post facility in River North, where they will be more conveniently closer to their agency clients.

At the same time, citing a flush of new business, Odd Machine has boosted its coast-to-coast directorial roster with three new stars in Los Angeles and one in New York. . 

The six-year company’s new expanded post facility is finishing construction in the 5,000-sq. ft. of space on the eighth floor at 900 N. Franklin.  The space had been vacant since its previous occupant Protein Editorial closed a year ago.

“We’re putting the finishing touches on the space and hopefully we’ll be fully settled before Thanksgiving,” says partner/editor Shegich’s.

Their 10,000-sq. ft. studio at 3144 W. Carroll, their base since opening in 2008, remains intact, “since we have too much going on there all the time,” Shegich says.  Directors Henrickson and Greg Hinchman remain headquartered here and executive producer will split his time as needed between the two facilities.

Franklin St. houses a staff of 10: editors Shegich and Steve Morrison, assistant Alex Vinje; colorist Deb Shegich, 2D-3D artists Jesse Randall and Alex Moed and visual effects artists Jake Allen and Zack Ledyard  (son of former Avenue Edit owner Rick Ledyard.

New to Odd Machine’s post operation is an audio studio operated separately but available to its clients by audio veteran Brando Triantafilliou’s Soundcake company. For years, Triantafillou had been a partner in now-defunct Rhythm Café.

Their four-year old Los Angeles office, located in the historic Granada building in what’s called Korea Town, is supporting new directors “storyteller extraordinaire Enda McCallion and digital effects master Fred Raimondi – each with a lengthy list of awards on their resume – and tabletop virtuoso Joe Maxwell,” describes LA executive producer Elizabeth Collins. They join Jeremy Kasten in LA.

On the East Coast, Moh Azima is known for directing music videos. 

“They bring a diverse roster in terms of style but they all have eccentric personalities driven by a burning desire to create really memorable work,” comments Collins.  Nav Singh also produces in the LA.

Odd Machine is currently producing its ninth Illinois Tourism “Mini Abe” spot, this one for the Big Ten network, supporting football, basketball and hockey. 

In other work, Michael Shannon stars in a 6-minute music video directed by actor/director Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”) shot in Chicago for “Low Key,” the first single from Jeff and Spencer Tweedy’s latest album, “Sukierae.”
