Sales Manager, Media Burn Archive

Description
Media Burn is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that preserves and distributes independent nonfiction video. We are a small crew of creative, dedicated people with a passion for documentary video. To supplement the funding we receive from grants and donations, we offer archival quality video digitization services to the public.

We need an experienced sales person to make direct calls to potential clients at corporations, educational institutions, and archives. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Work can be done offsite or onsite on a flexible schedule, with weekly progress updates either in person or via phone or email. This is a part-time position, 10-20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
   · Make direct calls to potential clients identified in Salesforce
   · Follow up by phone and/or email with previous contacts
   · Document client contacts
   · Educate potential clients about the vulnerability of videotape media and the need to transfer it
   · Respond to online/phone inquiries about our transfer services
   · Create written estimates for clients
   · Manage client communication during the transfer job

Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a college degree in a relevant field, such as filmmaking or communications, at least 2 years of sales or marketing experience, the ability to multi-task and an enthusiastic personality. A passion for film/video/TV is a plus.

Requirements:
   · Outgoing, with excellent communication skills.
   · Sales experience.
   · Self-motivated, independent worker.
   · Organized, dedicated, and reliable
   · Ability to quickly learn technical information to be able to educate clients about the need for our services and the specifics of how they work.

Free Spirit Media
Temporary Production Coordinator, FSM News West
(Position will run Mid-October to Early March)
Reports To: Program Coordinator, FSM News West
Supervises: Youth Production Crews

Summary
The FSM News West Production Coordinator is a dynamic staff person who is able to work directly with youth to spark creativity, confidence, and leadership through journalism and video production. This staff person is a team player, who can maintain focus, perspective, attitude, and attention to detail in a fast- paced, creative, and youth-driven environment. The Production Coordinator, with support from the Program Coordinator, is responsible for supporting the technical needs and learning for the after school program for participating youth. FSM News West is held at The Nichols Tower on the West Side of Chicago and engages high school aged youth.

FSM News teaches video production and journalism to youth, with a focus on supporting youth in learning the best practices in journalistic reporting, research, and broadcast news. Through production of news packages, PSAs, and full newscasts, youth gain real world skills and begin to use media as a way to tell their story and learn about their community. FSM News West is part of the journalism portfolio, with its counterpart FSM News South and the advanced journalism program, Real Chi Youth.

The FSM News West crew is responsible for the production and packaging of participant newscasts on various distribution platforms, including on CAN TV, YouTube, and partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Program Responsibilities
   · Participate in day-to-day lesson preparation and delivery, including, but not limited to: camera
operations, editing, producing, and reporting
   · Assist and teach youth on site about equipment, trouble-shooting, and production run-down
   · Create and maintain youth development environment where youth receive technical, artistic, social, and emotional support
   · Help plan, oversee, and attend field trips to media and production companies, businesses, organizations, events, etc.
   · Coordinate and cultivate relationships with local media professionals to serve as guest speakers and mentors
   · Participate in FSM staff meetings and professional development trainings Technical/Production Responsibilities
   · Support production, editing and archiving of final newscasts
   · Responsible for the care and maintenance of camera, editing, and video equipment
   · Lead the program’s file management and organizational system
   · Be knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Cloud, including After Effects and Photoshop

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience
   · Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
   · Knowledge of video production and post-production tools including use and maintenance of video
cameras, lights, microphones, graphics, effects, Final Cut Pro X
   · Advanced knowledge of broadcast journalism production
   · Advanced editing skills
   · A minimum of two years video, film, or television experience
   · A minimum of two years related experience and/or training in a youth/community development organization or school
   · Ability to use effective and persuasive speech and writing in instruction, presentations, meetings, and site visits

Work Requirements:
This position covers a parental leave. We are looking for a candidate who can fill in from mid-October through early March for up to 32 hours a week. Summary
The Deputy Director will partner with the Executive Director to oversee communications, development, operations, and especially programmatic functions for Free Spirit Media. The Deputy Director will play a vital role in connecting key strategic and programmatic priorities to initiatives and frameworks for their activation and integration. The Deputy Director position is new to Free Spirit Media; the vision for this position is to help connect organization vision, values, and implementation efforts. The Deputy Director will be a key leader in the organization, interfacing both with internal team members and stakeholders and with external partners, allies, and prospective supporters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Management & Executive Efforts (35%)
·    Oversee strategic plan implementation and ensure organization is tracking to and meeting goals
·    Interface with board, board committees, staff, staff committees, youth council, and stakeholders to advance strategic priorities
·    Oversee, develop, and streamline database and contact management systems
·    Co-plan and co-facilitate meetings
·    Oversee staff work plans, deliverables, and outcome schedules
·    Ensure partner check-ins are scheduled and deliverables are met
·    Represent organization at various functions
·    Other duties as assigned

Programmatic Efforts (30%)
·    Oversee Program Managers to ensure successful programming in the areas of in-school, out-of-school, and pathways programming
·    Ensure and evaluate how youth development and media production best-practices are being modeled and promoted across all program offerings
·    Oversee organization’s evaluation, assessment, and outcome tracking efforts; ensure outcomes are being met linked to the organization’s logic model
·    Ensure proper recordkeeping and program reporting
·    Support program team in grant writing and reporting components
·    Support successful youth and young adult-focused events including banquets, showcases, and workshops
·    Support Program Managers and staff in advancing organizational goals and culture
·    Other duties as assigned

Development Efforts (20%)
·    Interface with Development team on institutional fundraising strategies
·    Support Development team to ensure successful partnerships with supporters
·    Represent organization in outreach and stewardship functions
·    Network to expand donor and partner base
·    Support the organization’s special event initiatives
·    Work with high-level organization volunteers to advance development efforts
·    Support key donor strategies
·    Other duties as assigned

Communications & Distribution Efforts (15%)
·    Support Communications team to ensure successful communications efforts through social media, newsletter, website, and other communications vehicles
·    Support Communications team on growing organization’s brand externally
·    Promote youth-made media to current and prospective external distribution partners
·    Promote staff and organization via conferences, panels, and media opportunities
·    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience
·    Bachelor’s degree or greater from a four-year college or university preferred
·    7+ years experience in non-profit management, programming, fundraising, and communications
·    Experience with media arts, youth development, and/or social justice organizations preferred
·    Experience leading, developing, and supervising a strong team
·    Experience in program design and facilitation
·    Expertise in evaluation design and implementation
·    Excellent managerial skills, experience working cross-departmentally, and proven track record of building systems and processes for organizational sustainability
·    Solid knowledge of foundation, corporate, individual, and government giving
·    Knowledge of the local and national funding community with a focus on media arts funders and individual philanthropists preferred
·    Knowledge of non-profit human resources, finance, and operations

Work Requirements:
